C/C++
C/C++ Reference. "This site is meant to be used by more-or-less experienced C++ programmers, who have a good idea of what they want to do and simply need to look up the syntax."
etrace 1.7. "[A] simple but efficient utility that allows the display of a function call tree in a C program at run-time.... gcc ... has a nifty feature called "instrument-functions", that adds a couple of function calls to all functions in your code. Every time a function starts, a function called __cyg_profile_func_enter() is called, and every time a function exits, a function called __cyg_profile_func_exit() is called. The code in ptrace.c simply redirects the information gathered at each call to a text file." Lest this site ever go down, I maintain a copy of etrace-1.7.tar.gz locally.
GNU C Library, The. "The GNU C library, described in this document, defines all of the library functions that are specified by the ISO C standard, as well as additional features specific to POSIX and other derivatives of the Unix operating system, and extensions specific to the GNU system."
Standard Template Library, The. "This site documents all of the components (classes, functions, and concepts) in the SGI Standard Template Library."

computing
Bart's way to create bootable CD-Roms (for Windows/Dos). "This will create a bootable CD-Rom using one boot image. The boot image is a sector by sector image taken from a bootable floppy. When a PC boots from floppy this is normally done from the first floppy drive, known as drive number 0 or as drive A:. So, to let the CD-Rom boot there must be some mechanism that emulates a floppy drive (drive number 0)."
English
Elements of Style, The. William Strunk, Jr. "Asserting that one must first know the rules to break them, this classic reference book is a must-have for any student and conscientious writer. Intended for use in which the practice of composition is combined with the study of literature, it gives in brief space the principal requirements of plain English style and concentrates attention on the rules of usage and principles of composition most commonly violated."
